Colin Close

Colin Close are an alternative folk duo from Liverpool, UK, made up of Rob Hamer (guitar) and Jan Staunton (vocals).

Following several years of playing music together during holidays, the pair decided to form a band and focus their efforts on creating and releasing their own music.

In late summer of 2006, the band recorded its first set of demos, which would prove to be a starting point for its first release, the Colin Close EP, and for its first full-length album. Working together for over a year at the time of writing, the band has developed a set of songs for release that is still growing.

The band decided to release the Colin Close EP in September of 2007 as an example of what their listeners can expect to hear on its successor, the currently-unreleased full-length LP. The LP is expected to include an exploration of more experimental music, whilst staying true to the pop and folk foundations that Colin Close has become known for.

The duo write, produce, mix and master all of their own material, all of which is done in the comfort of the band's own homes.

Colin Close were signed to The Fruit Soup in 2007. The Colin Close EP was The Fruit Soup's first release.

Colin Close EP

Colin Close - Colin Close EP

The Colin Close EP was the first release from Liverpool folk duo Colin Close. It was originally distributed online in digital format.

The record was also the first work to be released by The Fruit Soup after its formation in 2007.

Recorded and mixed in (singer and producer) Jan's bedroom, Jan and (guitarist) Rob released the Colin Close EP as a taste of what listeners may expect to hear from the long-awaited, currently-untitled debut Colin Close full-length album, which is currently expected for release in 2009.

The Colin Close EP contains three vocal/guitar tracks and an additional instrumental track, the former of which made up the majority of the band's first live appearance in October 2008.
